Dear Friends and Colleagues,

You will remember that I sent a proposal for editing a manual/handbook on the development and practise of the creative arts with people with special needs and disabilities - based on our collective experience in Romania over the years

Some people responded enthusiastically - some hesitantly - and some not at all - so I put it on the shelf for a while. The following is a discussion on the topic and my ideas.

Having had quite a number of requests for such a resource I am going ahead with the book and am inviting you to contribute under one of the following headings:

1. A description of useful methods and ideas and the rationale for using them

2. A desciption of a project, the theory behind it and the methods used (including any evaluation that may have been done)

3. A description of the theory behind your practice.

You may wish to combine more than one of the above - or may have another heading you would like to offer

Please send your ideas to me in the next few weeks.

I will take responsibility for putting the book together and getting it translated. Every contributer would have a free copy in English and Romanian and the opportunity to buy further copies at cost for their own sales - this could raise money for your projects.

Every contributer would have the opportunity to have details of their organisation and contacts in the directory in the book.

If you wish to use photographs to illustrate your contribution - or client illustrations - please make sure the the appropriate permissions are in place.

Regarding time frame - preliminary idea: I would need ideas by the middle of October - a draft ms by 14 January and final ms after editorial discussion by 1 March.
