Project Wolf (Romania) has been developing courses and conferences in and near Brasov since 2003. We have run 4 International Summer Schools, hosted over 100 volunteers working in psychiatric hospitals, children's homes, Rroma villages and community projects, and contributed to conferences on sexual abuse and play therapy. Project Wolf hosted the first anti-bullying conference in 2006 with international and local presenters.
Since 2005 an ever increasing number of Romanian individuals and agencies (both governmental and NGOs) have requested Project Wolf training courses. Over 500 people have already taken part in a training programme including: psychologists, teachers, social workers, social assistants, care workers, artists, community workers, doctors, psychiatrists, nurses and parents.
Organisations who have participated include: Cry in the Dark, Robert Cole Centre, Casa Lumina, Brasov Teachers Centre, SCUT, New Life Centre, Department of Child Protection (Brasov and Constanta), Artemis (Cluj), Terres des Hommes (Brasov and Moldova), Hope of Hope (Casa Speranza), The Materal Unit, Children's Hospice, FAST.
The courses have covered topics such as: 'Introduction to Play Therapy', 'Introduction to Dramatherapy', 'Introduction to Sandplay', 'Trauma, Resilience and Attachment', 'The Shadow and Fairytales', 'Myths, Masks and Stories', 'Working with Abuse', 'Creative Care for Carers', 'Theatre in Special Education', 'Drama with Disabled Children'.
We have also had courses in basic creative and artistic skills linked to special application areas such as: working with parents and children, with mothers and babies, as well as: working in institutions and in areas of deprivation.
2008 has shown an unprecedented number of people and organisations wanting training courses with requests from: Cluj, Bucharest, Craiova, Constanta, Comanesti and Moldova.
It is our intention to find the best way of becoming registered as Training Providers and to explore the possibility of setting up the Romanian Association of Play Therapy and Dramatherapy.
We welcome ideas and support from people and will keep people posted via our email newslatter and website.
